TLS signed “F. Ll. Wright,” one page, 10.75 x 8.5, Taliesin letterhead, April 26, 1946. Letter to Richard B. Gump in San Francisco. In full: “I like your attitude and your ‘piece’. You boys are in a position to help the architectural situation a lot. My best to your father. We are passing through your cosmopolitan city about May 4 and I’ll try to find time to drop in on you.” In fine condition, with two vertical folds and a light red pencil mark to lower left. As a Gump’s customer, Frank Lloyd Wright amassed a vast collection of Asian art and, today, still in existence, Gump’s offers sculptures which re-create the foo dogs that stood guard at the entry to Taliesin, Wright’s winter residence in Arizona.
