Partial LS in French, signed “Josephine,” one page, 7.25 x 3.25, November 26, 1807. Conclusion of a letter to an unknown recipient (most likely Henry Clarke, appointed War Minister by Napoleon three months earlier) requesting a military appointment. In full (translated): “Siebecker, retired military as Wissembrough, Department of the Bas-Rhin, wishes to obtain a place in the guard in the Twentieth. I recommend him to your benevolence and I would be delighted if it would be possible for you to do something in his favor.” In fine condition, with a light central vertical fold and some stray ink marks to lower right corner.
