Description

Warmly inscribed Imagine poster to a friend and fellow activist

Original poster included in Lennon’s Imagine album, 22 x 31, signed and inscribed to comedian and activist Dick Gregory by Lennon, “To Dick & Lill and all the Gregories! Love from John &,” to which Ono has added, “Yoko.” Lennon has also drawn his famous self-portrait caricature below the signatures. Expected intersecting folds, some light surface marks to the upper right, two tack holes to the upper border, four central tack holes, and a small piece of tape to the lower border, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from noted Beatles expert Frank Caiazzo. Gregory was a longtime friend of Lennon who credited himself as a backing vocalist on ‘Give Peace a Chance.’ He was an avid vegetarian, and Lennon, wishing to get off opiates and alcohol, asked Gregory to devise a special diet for the purpose. An excellent association piece between socially conscious entertainers. Pre-certified Roger Epperson/REAL and RR Auction COA.
