Black-bodied Columbus Crest Model 59/A six-string acoustic guitar, owned and used by Strummer. This guitar was used during the making of Earthquake Weather, Strummer's only studio album with The Latino Rockabilly War. The guitar was given to Strummer by a friend during a recording session in Los Angeles. Strummer was not in the habit of travelling with his instruments, and would use whatever was available. At that time, Strummer added several audio cassette labels to the body in a random pattern in his attempt to make the guitar look like a version of one of Eddie Van Halen’s ‘Frankenstein’ electric guitars. Later on, he presented the guitar to the band’s former manager Gerry Harrington. In fine condition, with expected wear from use. An ordinary guitar transformed into an extraordinary piece of rock and roll history by one of the iconic figures of the British punk movement. RR Auction COA.
