American sculptor (1828–1895) notable for making one of only two life masks of Lincoln. Ink signature, “I remain, very sincerely, your friend, Leonard W. Volk,” on an off-white 5 x 3.5 sheet with ink notation to the upper right corner. In fine condition, with a uniform shade of toning. Accompanied by an unsigned photo of Volk with a bust of Lincoln, bearing his facsimile signature on the mount. RRAuction COA.
