John Draper

Scientist and pioneer daguerreotypist (1811–1882) who took the first detailed photograph of the moon in 1840. Bank check, 7.25 x 2.75, filled out in another hand and signed by Draper, “Jno W.Draper,” payable to J. Kinder for $21.56, June 23, 1879. Check also bears a two-cent revenue stamp, also initialed by Draper. In very good condition, with several vertical folds, one through a single letter of signature, cancellation cut to body, a few wrinkles, and light show-through from endorsements on reverse.
