Union general (1826–1885) hailed at the beginning of the Civil War as the ‘Young Napoleon,’ who was defeated for the presidency in 1864 by Abraham Lincoln. Original 2.25 x 4 carte-de-visite photo by Gardner of McClellan in uniform, signed in the lower border in black ink, “Geo. B.
