American inventor and entrepreneur (1854–1932), founder of the Eastman Kodak company, whose invention of roll film revolutionized photography and helped make the once-specialized art and craft a popular pastime. Vintage matte-finish 6.5 x 7.5 photo, signed and inscribed in black ink “To my friend Lewis Urley, with much regard, George Eastman, Jan’y 1927.” In very good condition, with scattered toning and soiling, creases to the borders, and moderate silvering to dark areas of the image. Just the second full signature from Eastman we have ever seen, the first on a photo. RR Auction COA.
