African-American leader (1856–1915) who authored Up from Slavery and founded the Tuskegee Institute to provide young black people with educational opportunities. Original 5.25 x 7.5 chemi-litho-gravure embossed card by the Marshall-Jackson Company of Chicago, signed in the lower border in black ink.
