Distinguished Czech composer (1824–1884) best known for his colorful symphonic poem The Moldau and the opera The Bartered Bride. Scarce original 2.5 x 4 carte-de-visite photo by J. Thomas of Prague, inscribed in black ink in Czech and signed “Bedr. Smetana,” and dated 1879. In fine condition, with a couple light pencil notations to bottom edge of reverse and a couple light spots to image. Just the second signed photo we have offered. RR Auction COA.
