German Romantic composer (1854–1921) best known for the opera Hänsel und Gretel. He is not related to the 1960s British pop star of the same name (born Arnold Dorsey), who ‘borrowed’ the composer’s moniker from a music dictionary. ALS in German, signed “E. Humperdinck,” one page, 3.5 x 5.5, blind stamped personal letterhead, March 31, 1897. Untranslated letter to Professor F. Singer.
