Distinguished original 4 x 6.5 cabinet photo of Roosevelt in 1898, by the Pach Brothers, signed and inscribed in the lower border as president in black ink “To Miss Jean Walker Simpson, with best wishes from Theodore Roosevelt, Nov. 15th, 1904.” In very good condition, with a mild crease to the upper left corner of the image, where it has partially separated from the mount, a few light surface marks and impressions, a small spot of soiling above the inscription, light surface loss to the upper left corner and right border of the mount, an irregularly trimmed top edge, and a couple trivial brushes to the inscription. Roosevelt had come to power in 1901 after the assassination of William McKinley, and went on to win a full term in the 1904 election—a landslide victory by any measure. The election was held on November 8, exactly one week before he signed this photo. A great photo of one of America’s most beloved presidents. RR Auction COA.
