LS signed “W. McKinley Jr,” one page, lightly-lined, 5 x 9, Committee on Ways and Means letterhead, April 19, 1890. Letter to Selover and Atwood, nurseries in Geneva, New York. McKinley acknowledges receipt of “your…suggesting a specific duty of $2.00 per thousand on all seedlings plants and trees etc. The same shall be duly considered.” In fine condition, with intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, scattered light toning, and some light edge wear. The McKinley Tariff (October, 1890) imposed heavy duties on imports.
