Two original glossy 8 x 10 NASA press photos of images of the moon taken by the Lunar Orbiter 2, including the spectacular oblique view of the Copernicus crater. Both retain the original press caption affixed to the reverse, dated November 30, 1966. In fine condition, with a few light bends and creases. The Lunar Orbiter 2’s main mission was to photograph the lunar surface in order to identify landing sites for the Surveyor and Apollo missions. The photo became legendary when it appeared in Time magazine in 1966, where NASA Scientist Martin Swetnick, called it "one of the great pictures of the century.” RRAuction COA.
