Payment order reads, “On settlement of the accounts of Lieutenant Col. Augustine C. Smith of the 12th Regt of Infantry at this office a balance of One hundred and thirty dollars and fifty five cents is found due from him to the United States.” A few small separations along intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, paper loss to top right corner, and a bit of light toning, otherwise fine condition.
