American composer (1892–1972) best known for making the original arrangement of Gershwin’s Rhapsody and Blue and for his own perennially popular concert staple, the Grand Canyon Suite. Vintage glossy 8 x 10 photo, signed and inscribed in blue ink “To Andres Perez, Cordially, Ferdie Grofe, April 28, 1949.” In very good condition, with scattered creases and surface marks, a couple spots of silvering, show-through from notations on reverse, and overall irregular adhesion to signature and inscription, which is fairly light, but still legible. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
