Roosevelt meets on prison labor

Handwritten memo as governor, 5.5 x 8.5, regarding a meeting on prison labor. In full: “Prison Labor, Jared Van Wagner, John Sullivan, Rose Schneiderman, 1 National Labor, Senator Sheridan, Meeting 13th Aug, Ashland 4177.” A few light creases and toning, a paperclip impression to the top, and light erased pencil and typed notations to the bottom border, otherwise fine condition. As president, Roosevelt would establish Federal Prison Industries to use penal labor as a source for goods and services to be purchased by the government.
