Museum quality first generation albumen photograph of Union Generals George G. Meade, Richard Batchelder, S. F. Barstow, and E. L. Campbell, 19.5 x 15.75, affixed to its original 24 x 18 thin cardboard mount, with the subjects' names neatly printed on the front. A small pencil note on the otherwise blank back states the image was shot in 1864. The image and mount have toned areas, light foxing, and edge wear. Photographs this large were technically difficult and extremely expensive to make in the 1800s, and were usually made for VIPs or exhibition. An uncommon oversized image which presents beautifully and is worthy of a museum. RR Auction COA.
