Description

Mesmerizing famous bullet-and-balloon stroboscopic image

MIT engineer (1903–1990) who pioneered the use of the stroboscope. Original 1959 MIT 9.5 x 8 stroboscopic photograph of pioneering scientist and photographer Harold Edgerton in his lab. This sharp and clear image shot with his stroboscopic process shows Edgerton holding a balloon with a bullet shooting through it. This photograph came from MIT, and has the university's 1959 dated tag and photo description on the back. There is some glue on the back that is original to the photo and tag, and there is minor other wear. A strikingly beautiful portrait from 1959, one of just a few that show Edgerton along with his experiment. RR Auction COA.
