TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, May 18, 1972. Letter to an admirer. In part: “Unlike so many so-called movie stars Miss Stanwyck truly is just that…she personifys [sic] what the term star really should mean. She is a talented actress, highly disciplined and has that spark or fire or energy or whatever it is that sets one apart without losing the charm of her wit and feminity [sic] that truly endears her to her fellow actors and crew alike. That goes for the man that sweeps the stage up to and including the head of the studio…I particularly remember one long angry scene we played together in Maverick Queen, the writer some how did not put a finish to it, and after one rehearsal I said, ‘now what,’ Missy said ‘you exit pal pronto.’ I thought at first well the star is calling the shots, but when I saw the film she proved dead right, my exit was just what the scene needed. All I can say is I would love to have the pleasure of being kicked out of a scene again by Barbara Stanwyck. That gal is dynamite and I love her.” Scattered creases and a paperclip impression to the upper left, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
