Flown embroidered Gemini 5 mission patch, 4″ in diameter, picturing a Conestoga wagon with the motto “8 Days or Bust,” on the wagon. Signed on the reverse, “Flown on Gemini V, Gordon Cooper.” Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Cooper stating “This patch flew in space from August 21-29, 1965. I was spacecraft commander.” In fine condition. Gemini 5 was the first mission to have an embroidered patch. However, the design was deemed unacceptable by NASA and had to be covered over on the crew's patches with plain cloth. Pre-certified Steve Zarelli and RR Auction COA.
