Original 1860s oval albumen photograph of Grant in uniform with the rank of Major General, 5.25 x 7.25, affixed to an 8.25 x 10.75 mount. Sharp and clean image. Light foxing and toning to the mount, and a lightly trimmed bottom edge. Scarce due to the larger size. Grant was promoted to the rank of Major General by Abraham Lincoln after his convincing victories at Forts Henry and Donelson. RR Auction COA.
