Channing E. Phillips

Minister and civil rights activist (1928–1987) who became the first African-American to receive votes for the presidential nomination at the 1968 Democratic National Convention. Semi-glossy 6.75 x 10 cardstock photo, signed and inscribed in black felt tip, “To Dennis Warren, with best wishes, Channing Emery Phillips.” In fine condition, with a trivial paperclip impression to the upper left and a lightly trimmed right edge.
