Image is detailed and clear, with significant wear to the mount, including well worn corners, creases, a missing surface piece to the upper left corner, and tape to the reverse. At the time of the photo, Tolstoy would have recently finished publishing his autobiographical trilogy, and in a few years would begin to craft one of literature’s greatest works, War and Peace.
