French writer (1824–1895), the illegitimate son of famed novelist Alexandre Dumas. The younger Dumas’ novel La Dame aux Camelias became the basis of Verdi’s opera ‘La Traviata.’ Original 19th century albumen card photograph of the writer, 7.5 x 5.5, by Dornac & Co. of Paris.
