Original program from the 1949 International Jazz Festival in Paris from May 8 to 15, 9.75 x 12.5, signed on the front cover in ink by Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, ‘Hot Lips’ Page, Tadd Dameron, Kenny Clarke, Sidney Bechet, Kenny Dorham, Don Byas, Bill Coleman, Jimmy McPartland, James Moody, George Johnson, and a few French musicians. In very good condition, with moderate foxing and soiling to cover borders (most signatures unaffected), a small tear to the right edge, and slight brushes to a few signatures, including Parker’s. Accompanied by a photocopied letter of provenance, indicating that the autographs were originally collected by drummer Carlo Krahmer at the festival, who then gave them to his friend—Carlo was blind, so “autographs were of little use to him.” An incredible relic from a vibrant period in the history of jazz.
