Irish political leader (1775–1847) best known for his tireless efforts on behalf of Catholic Emancipation (i.e., the right for Catholics to sit in Parliament) and the Repeal of the Union between Ireland and Great Britain. ALS, one page, 4.5 x 7.25, July 2, 1846. Letter to Alexander Bannerman, Member of Parliament and British colonial governor. In full: “I am sorry to say it is not possible for me to attend tomorrow at the Dinner to Ibrahim Pacha.” In fine condition, with a bit of trivial toning. Ibrahim Pasha (1789-1848), Wali of Egypt and Sudan,visited Western Europe in 1846. RRAuction COA.
