Rufus Isaacs, 1st Marquess of Reading (1860–1935) was the first Jewish person to be appointed to the British cabinet and served as Lord Chief Justice, viceroy of India, and minister of foreign affairs throughout his career. Vintage matte-finish 7 x 9.25 photo of Reading with his wife affixed to a 10 x 13 New York Times Studios mount, signed on the mount by both in fountain pen. In fine condition, with a few light creases to the mount, a few small spots of surface loss to the photo’s finish, and a stray pencil mark to the upper left corner of the mount.
