Description

Wright advises his San Francisco art dealer on a purchase

TLS signed “F.L.L.W.,” one page, 5.5 x 8.5, Taliesin letterhead, March 10, 1948. Letter to Richard B. Gump. In full: “The young woman you mention dropped in and out again with a ‘how-do-you-do’. Why don’t you split on that gong? A pioneer could do?” In fine condition, with two small tears to top edge as well as a couple of staple holes to top left. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. As a Gump’s customer, Frank Lloyd Wright amassed a vast collection of Asian art and, today, still in existence, Gump’s offers sculptures which re-create the foo dogs that stood guard at the entry to Taliesin, Wright’s winter residence in Arizona. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
