Description

In a scarce handwritten letter from 1994, Bush defends his plan for “men and women who refuse to accept responsibility”

Scarce ALS signed “George,” one page both sides, 6.25 x 4.5, gubernatorial campaign letterhead, no date. Letter to a concerned voter. In part: “My plan is designed to affect both men and women who refuse to accept responsibility. Obviously, this is not your case. You want to accept your responsibility. Herein lies the difference and my proposal would reflect this. I have stated that the liscense [sic] suspension should be used as a measure of last resort. Mine is also a two way street. Any payer should have access…as well.” In fine condition, with a paperclip impression to the left edge. Bush began as the underdog in his first gubernatorial campaign, which focused on ‘personal responsibility’ and ‘moral leadership,’ but managed to win the vote by seven percent. A great piece from the birth of the future president’s political career. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
