Description

The Lindberghs set off for a transcontinental flight

Vintage pearl-finish 8 x 10 photo of the Lindberghs with airport manager Carl Flournoy at Central Airport in Camden, New Jersey, signed in fountain pen, “Charles A. Lindbergh” and “Anne Lindbergh.” In very good condition, with scattered surface creases and dings, a tear to the upper right corner, and the emulsion behind each signature erased to aid in ink adhesion. Accompanied by sections of two Philadelphia newspapers dated April 20, 1933, mentioning Lindbergh’s visit to the airport, including one that uses this particular photo. Flying a Lockheed Vega monoplane, Lindbergh was preparing to set off on a transcontinental flight to the west coast to perform inspections for the Western and Transcontinental Air Lines.
