In full: “A glance, a word—and joy or pain/ Befalls; what was no more shall be./ How slight the links are in the chain/ That binds us to our destiny!” In fine condition, with a central vertical fold passing through a single letter of the signature, and a block of toning to the upper right, over a portion of the quote.
