In part: “To me, space is an important frontier that man must explore. There we will learn things we cannot even imagine. To survive and work there, we will need some of our best engineers and scientists to invent many new tools and systems that can be used on earth. All this means that our creativity and intelligence will be pushed to their limits—that’s good for us! My long range goals here at NASA remain much the same as when I joined the program in 1978.
