In full: “Richard Davis Private in the 20th Company of Royal Marines having been fired by a general court martial for desertion and making away with articles of his Divisional clothing and sentenced to Fourteen years Transportation, the Lords commissioned of the Admiralty most humbly submit that your Majesty may be graciously pleased to approve this Sentence and that the said Richard may be transported as a Felon accordingly.” Sealed with three complete Royal Navy–stamped red wax seals on the reverse. In very good condition, with moderate overall soiling, scattered toning, and some light pencil notations to the bottom, slightly affecting the signature.
