“And the cares, that infest the day, Shall fold their tents, like the Arabs, And as silently steal away”

AQS, signed “Henry W. Longfellow,” on a 7 x 4.5 off-white sheet, dated June 25, 1867. Longfellow pens the famous closing stanza from his beloved ‘The Day Is Done.’ In full: “And the night shall be filled with music,/ And the cares, that infest the day,/ Shall fold their tents, like the Arabs,/ And as silently steal away.” Sheet is affixed to a slightly larger card. In fine condition, with two vertical folds, one through a single letter of signature, and some scattered light toning. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
