Description

Frederic Bartholdi

Eminent French sculptor (1834–1904) best known for designing the Statue of Liberty. Bold ink signature, “Bartholdi, avec ses bonnes amities,” on the correspondence side of an off-white 5.5 x 3.5 postcard, postmarked November 13, 1899, with images of Bartholdi’s ‘In Clade Decus,’ and the Lion of Belfort. Bartholdi has addressed the correspondence side to “Monsieur A. Hirsch, Architecte en chef de la ville à Lyon.” In fine condition, with a couple light corner creases and a mild shade of toning. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
