Signed and inscribed on the first free-end page “For Elaine Clouse, Sincerely, Thomas Wolfe, June 13, 1938.” In fine condition, with a small brush to a single letter of inscription and signature. Wolfe had left New York City in late May of 1938, arriving in Portland on June 7 and beginning an auto tour of national parks on June 20th. He would pass away on September 15, 1938.
