War-dated LS signed “Ch. Stone,” one page, lightly-lined both sides, 4.75 x 7.5, July 4, 1861. Letter to Colonel Tappan. In part: “You will please withdraw your detached companies, as soon as the Quartermaster’s train shall have got past your position…and march to Point of Rocks.” Reverse of second integral page bears an address panel in another hand, as well as docketing.
