Description

In a rare handwritten letter as president, Harrison suggests a meeting with cabinet members

Scarce ALS as president signed “Benj. Harrison,” one page, 5 x 8, Executive Mansion letterhead, September 5, 1889. Letter to Secretary of the Interior John W. Noble. In full: “We had better wait till you can talk with Mr. W. [Secretary of the Treasury William Windom] on his return. If you will call Monday Evg with him he can talk it over & may name names.” Mirroring of ink from premature folding, a few creases and wrinkles, and some scattered edge wear, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by the original transmittal envelope, addressed in Harrison’s hand to “The Secy of the Interior.” Handwritten letters from Harrison’s administration are quite uncommon, particularly to cabinet members. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
