Member of the Three Stooges comedy team (1895–1955), and brother of Moe and Curly. He was the older brother of and third stooge in the early years of the act. He would rejoin the trio again in 1946, after youngest brother Curly Howard suffered a stroke. Vintage glossy photo of Howard in a guard uniform and hat, with a butterfly net over his shoulder, trimmed to a size of 7 x 9, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To ‘Hal,’ Couldn’t get that Bread & Butter without you. Best wishes, Shemp Howard.” In very good condition, with aforementioned trimming, a few scattered surface creases, some flecking to finish, and some light creases and finish loss along bottom edge. Individual photos of Howard from any period of his career are quite uncommon, combined with a humorous inscription, make this an excellent edition to any Stooge collection.
