Letter written during his imprisonment at Wilhemshohe castle after being captured at the Battle of Sedan during the Franco-Prussian War. He was deposed as Emperor by the National Assembly at Bordeaux one week prior to writing this letter. Matted and framed to an overall size of 9.25 x 12.25. A central vertical and horizontal fold, toning from adhesive remnants to each of the top corners and the text and signature a shade or two light, but completely legible, otherwise fine condition.
