King of France and Navarre (born 1755) from 1814 (save a brief interruption in 1815 while fleeing Napoleon during the Hundred Days) until his death in 1824. Louis himself claimed that his reign dated from the death of his nephew, the Dauphin Louis XVII, in 1795. Partly-printed DS, in French, signed “Louis,” one page, 17.25 x 14, December 31, 1819. Document names Jean Pierre Macquie to the Legion of Honor. Signed at the conclusion by Louis and countersigned by Jacques MacDonald, Marshal of France and Grand Chancellor of the Legion of Honor. In very good condition, with three heavy vertical folds, a couple horizontal folds, and some scattered light wrinkling and toning. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
