LS signed “Wm. McKinley, Jr.,” one lined page, 5.25 x 9, House of Representatives US, Washington, D. C. letterhead, June 17, 1889. In a letter to the Honorary Joseph Tanner of Canton, Ohio, McKinley writes, in full: “I hand you herewith a letter just received asking that an order be made for immediate examination. I trust the same will be granted.” In very good condition, with intersecting folds, one passing through the first letter of the signature and another through the body, light creasing, a small separation to one of the horizontal folds, three staple marks along the left edge, and some mild bleeding to the signature.
