Exquisite AQS boldly signed with his umbrella signature, “Thomas A. Edison,” on the reverse an off-white 3 x 1.5 personal calling card bearing a different name. Edison pens a verse from the Elegy of English poet Thomas Gray. In full: “The boast of heraldy of pomp and power, All that beauty, all that wealth ere gave, Alike await the inevitable hour, The path of glory leads but to the grave.” In fine condition. Only a select few quotes written in Edison’s hand have surfaced, this one represents favorite piece of poetry, which he perpetually recited within earshot of his many associates.
