Acclaimed French filmmaker during the New Wave movement (1931–1990), who, unlike his fellow compatriots, chose to create visual landscapes inspired by fantasy, musicals, fairytales, and the glamour of classic Hollywood. He was heavily influenced by the work of Francois Truffaut. ALS signed “Jacques x,” one page both sides, 8.5 x 11, personal letterhead sent from Paris, October 12, 1977. Demy writes, in part: “Shortly, I’ll send you an outline of my screenplay. I would like to do some rewriting before sending it to you. I miss Los Angeles and my friends already. Please, Dear George, accept my best wishes on your new project—I enjoyed very much that Sunday we spent together and I think of you.” In fine condition, with a paperclip impression through the personal stationery print.
