Goldwyn promises a hefty sum in gold

Film producer and co-founder of MGM (1879–1974). DS, twice signed “Samuel Goldwyn, Jr.,” one page, 8.5 x 11, March 16, 1927. In a promissory note between Samuel Goldwyn, Inc. and The Morrison Company, Inc., Goldwyn promises to pay “$14,263.30 in United States Gold Coin of the present standard of weight, fineness and value, with interest at the rate of 6% per annum…Ninety days after date, or on June 14, 1927,” signed at the conclusion by Goldwyn and his secretary beside an imprinted Samuel Goldwyn, Inc. stamp. In very good condition, with horizontal folds, some light creasing, a few paperclip impressions towards the top left corner, a few trivial areas of paper loss along the edges, two sets of staple marks towards the top, two small holes to the seal, and pencil notations in another hand.
