Sam Berger

Heavyweight boxer (1884–1925) who was the first Olympic Heavyweight Boxing Champion, winning his gold medal in St. Louis in Boxing at the 1904 Summer Olympics. Vintage fountain pen signature, “Wishing you 100 weeks at 1000 pounds per week. Sam Berger Mar 13/09,” on an off-white 7.5 x 5.75 album page. In fine condition, with lightly trimmed vertical edges and some scattered light toning and soiling. Accompanied by an unsigned 8 x 10 photo of Berger sparring with Jim Jeffries. Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
