John Armstrong

American soldier and statesman who was a delegate to the Continental Congress, US senator from New York, and secretary of war (1758–1843). LS, one page, 7.75 x 9.75, March 12, 1813. Letter, written from the War Department, to Brigadier General Henry Burbeck, in New York. In full: “You will on receipt hereof "proceed to Boston & relieve General Boyd in the command of that post.” Intersecting folds, some mild toning, and light mirroring of signature, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
