Shepard,” along with various pencil notations throughout the first two free-end pages, also in his hand; and We Hold These Truths, featuring the same printed name in blue felt tip; two vinyl-covered Watch Officer’s Guides from the United States Naval Institute in Annapolis, Maryland, one issued in 1935 and the other in 1941; a hardcover Physical Training Manual from the naval institute; a paperback Cruise Manual from the naval academy for the Practice Cruise, 1943; a paperback Touch Method Instruction Book on Remington Typewriters; a vinyl copy of The Physics of Aviation: An Elementary Text on the Theory of Flight; and two paperback Annual Registers of the United States Naval Academy, one for the years 1941–1942, and the other for 1942–1943.
