Senator Taney pens a lengthy account of his own legal case

ADS, signed at the top, “Roger B. Taney,” one page both sides, 8 x 13.25, March 5, 1817. Lengthy summary, written entirely in Taney’s hand, regarding the case “Roger B. Taney vs. Christian Kemp” in Frederick County. In very good condition, with horizontal mailing folds, partial separations along the hinge, scattered creasing and toning, rough edges, and some light spotting. Documented during his time as a Democratic state Senator for Maryland, Taney, having begun practicing law in 1799, was already established as one of the premier lawyers in the state. RRAuction COA.
